The train journey on the 480 km long Dhaka-Cox's Bazar railway line officially started on Friday. With this, the waiting period of the people of Cox's Bazar came to an end. At 12:45 PM, the 20-compartment 'Cox's Bazar Express' left for Dhaka with 1,200 passengers from the iconic railway station of Cox's Bazar.

This train journey was inaugurated by the Secretary of the Ministry of Railways. Humayun Kabir. He will go to Chittagong in that train. Before leaving the train, the railway secretary told reporters that 1,200 passengers witnessed history on the first train journey to Cox's Bazar. This will bring prosperity to Cox's Bazar tourism and business. Pointing out that the demand for trains is increasing rapidly, he further said that tickets for the next 10 days have already been booked in advance. In addition to increasing the number of trains to solve the crisis, efforts are being made to improve passenger safety and service quality. Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shaheen Imran along with senior railway officials were present at this time.

Cox's Bazar Express will take 8 hours and 10 minutes to reach the capital's Kamalapur railway station. The train will again depart from Kamalapur Railway Station to Cox's Bazar at 10:30 tonight with about 1,300 passengers. Tourists can take the night train from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar in the morning, leave their luggage and goods at the railway station, visit the beach or sightseeing places all day and return to their destination by night train.

This iconic railway station is built on 29 acres of land in Chander Para of Jhelongja Union, just five kilometers away from Cox's Bazar beach. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 101 km Dohazari-Cox's Bazar railway project with an iconic railway station of 1 lakh 87 thousand square feet at noon on November 11.

People flocked to the iconic railway station from this morning to watch the first train run. Helal Uddin, president of Cox's Bazar Citizen Forum, spoke at the railway station. Referring to the historical incident of the railway, he said, "We have been dreaming of the railway for hundreds of years, today we can see its implementation." Cox's Bazar residents are grateful to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for this.

Iftiyar Uddin Bayezid, an officer of the United Nations Refugee Agency working in Cox's Bazar, is going to Dhaka with a group of five people including his wife, two children. When asked the reason, he said, "I am going to witness history by riding the first train, not for any work." Railways will come to Cox's Bazar - that was our dream. Tomorrow they will return by train.

Cox's Bazar doctor couple Nazmul Haque and Nina Jihan left for Dhaka to experience the first train journey. Professor Jebunnecha of Cox's Bazar City College joined them. Nazmul Haque said that the experience of riding the first train from Cox's Bazar to Dhaka will be a memory in life. Jebunnecha said, join the train journey not for any work, but to enjoy the pleasure.

The fare of Sobhon chair from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar is fixed at Tk 695. AC chair rent 1 thousand 325, AC seat rent 1 thousand 590 and AC berth rent 2 thousand 380 taka. On the other hand, the fare from Chittagong to Cox's Bazar is Tk 205 for Sobhan chair, Tk 386 for Snigdha class, Tk 466 for AC seat and Tk 696 for AC berth.

The driver (locomaster) of Cox's Bazar Express was FM Abdul Awal. He told Prothom Alo that he was the driver of the first commercial train from Cox's Bazar's iconic railway station. He has been to so many places in the country, but he has not seen the Dohazari-Cox's Bazar railway anywhere. The train runs through green hills, super gardens, green fields, river banks. Very enjoyable.

Abu Morshed Chowdhury, president of Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Cox's Bazar said that the scene of Cox's Bazar is changing due to the start of train movement. Stating that the railway will bring radical changes in tourism, he said, salt produced in Cox's Bazar, fish extracted from the sea, Teknaf land port will increase the facilities for import and export of goods. Employment will be created.

Members of various organizations including tourist police, railway police are in charge of the overall security of the railway station. They welcome the passengers with flowers and chocolates. Apel Mahmud, DIG (Deputy Inspector General) of Tourist Police at the railway station said that apart from the safety of passengers including tourists, special attention is being paid to ensure that drugs and weapons are not smuggled in the train.

Stationmaster of Cox's Bazar Iconic Railway Station Golam Rabbani told Prothom Alo that 1,200 passengers accompanied the first journey. 20 coaches have been installed in Cox's Bazar Express. Railways became popular within a short period of time. Many people commute by train to avoid the risk of road accidents.

Tipu Sultan, chairman of Jhelongja Union Parishad, said that the pressure, suffering and accidents of people on the Cox's Bazar-Chittagong road will be reduced after the railway starts. With the start of train movement, the quality of service in the related businesses including tourism, hotels, restaurants in the city is being increased.

The iconic railway station has state-of-the-art facilities including star hotels, shopping malls, restaurants, childcare centers, luggage lockers. The air-conditioned iconic railway station with a daily capacity of 46,000 passengers also has a post office, convention center, information center, ATM booth and prayer space.
