Bangladesh Imports 60 Metric Tons of Green Chilies from India via Bhomra Land Port

The import of green chilies has started through the Bhomra Land Port in Satkhira. On Sunday, after the Eid-ul-Azha holiday, six Indian trucks loaded with green chilies entered the Bhomra Land Port at around 11 AM. Each truck carries 10 metric tons of green chilies.

Eftikhar Uddin, the Commissioner of Bhomra Customs, confirmed the matter and stated that several trucks of green chilies entered starting from Sunday morning. More trucks will gradually enter, but it will take some time.

The government granted permission for the import of green chilies on June 25, considering the rising prices of green chilies in the local market before Eid-ul-Azha.

According to the Bhomra SandAF Agents Association, it has been reported that on the first day of resuming import-export activities after a five-day holiday break, 60 tons of green chilies entered through the Bhomra Land Port.

Md. Makchhud Khan, the Editor-in-Chief of the Bhomra SandAF Agents Association, said that today, a total of six trucks carrying green chilies entered. More trucks carrying chilies may enter in the evening. Due to the import of green chilies, the prices will decrease in the local markets and across the country.

Abdur Rahim, the Editor of Satkhira Chili Traders' Association, mentioned that in the Satkhira market, green chilies are being sold for 400 to 450 Bangladeshi Taka. Today, some trucks carrying green chilies have entered through the Bhomra Land Port. Prices have already started to decrease. Within a day or two, the price of green chilies will be around 50 to 60 Taka.
